Overview

Founded in 2017, The SPWLA KFUPM Student Chapter formed with only 10 members and has been increasing rapidly ever since. The chapter seeks to create a proper medium for the students to conduct various activities for knowledge sharing, training, and development.

Mission

To increase the awareness of petrophysics, formation evaluation, and well logging best practices in the oil and gas industry and the scientific community at large.

About SPWLA

The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the advancement of the science of petrophysics and formation evaluation, through well logging and other formation evaluation techniques and to the application of these techniques to the exploitation of gas, oil, and other minerals. Founded in 1959, SPWLA provides information services to scientists in the petroleum and mineral industries, serves as a voice of shared interests in our profession, plays a major role in strengthening petrophysical education, and strives to increase the awareness of the role petrophysics has in the Oil and Gas Industry and the scientific community.

Brief History

SPWLA Foundation was formed in 1985 as The Society of Professional Well Log Analysts Educational Fund for the exclusive purpose of issuing scholarships and grants for the study at schools, universities, and colleges engaged in the teaching and study of the science of formation evaluation. The Foundation was later renamed The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts Foundation to address the increasing role that rock and fluid analysis play in the science of formation evaluation. The Foundation was set up as a 501(c) (3) organization and is funded by the SPWLA, companies, and individuals to support the overall purposes of the SPWLA. All contributions to the Foundation are fully tax-deductible according to the United States Internal Revenue Service.
