Completion Requirements:

The program requires a minimum of 30 credit hours as follows: 12 credit hours in core graduate courses, 12 credit hours in elective graduate courses, and 6 credit hours in thesis work. The presentation of a satisfactory seminar – usually a thesis proposal - is also required. All graduate PETE courses are scheduled during the evening (5:00 – 8:00 PM).

The elective courses are intended to provide a coherent study of certain well-defined areas and should serve as a basis for furthering the student's personal interests, future graduate studies, or practice in the oil industry. Therefore, they should be selected to serve those purposes. Graduate courses in engineering or science may be counted as elective courses for a maximum of 6 credit hours.
