Overview
The American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA) is a professional and international engineering and scientific society, which promotes interaction among specialists, practitioners, scholars, and educators in rock mechanics and geomechanics. ARMA advocates for individuals and firms in all aspects of rock mechanics and geomechanics, including multi-disciplinary rock physics and rock engineering technology advancement and technological applications for civil engineering, mining engineering and tunneling, oil and gas recovery, and geo-related socioeconomic problem-solving. ARMA provides a forum and information resources for their members, related organizations, and the public, while their strong student membership ensures future continuity.
KFUPM students participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities through the KFUPM ARMA Student Chapter, a student body which functions under the auspices of the ARMA International. The chapter's objectives are of a technical as well as a social nature as it provides the student an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with fellow members. Arranging excursions to industrial sites and operations, arid organizing seminars represent a few of the chapter's technical activities. Cultural events include students' get-together, picnics, sports activities and participation in the annual career day at KFUPM.
Brief History
The ARMA-KFUPM Student Chapter is a recently established chapter at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It was established in February 2022 as the first student chapter in the Middle East.

Aims
- Promote rock mechanics and geomechanics through organizing various seminars, webinars, presentations, meetings, publications, and conferences.
- Promote dialogue and interaction between academia and industry which should be to the benefit of the students.
Mission
To be the worldwide most active ARMA student chapter.
Vision
Advance the science of geomechanics/rock mechanics, organize different types of events and activities, develop the skills of leadership and teamwork and educate the students on their academic and social skills.
