Dr. Xingyu Zhu

Post-Doc Researcher, Department of Petroleum Engineering Xingyu Zhu is a postdoctoral researcher at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He holds a PhD in Earth Science from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, focusing on energy-stable smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) for fluid flow simulations in porous media. He earned a Master’s in digital Rock Physics from the China University of Petroleum (East China) and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Tongji University. Previously, he conducted fluid flow simulations as a visiting student at Herriot-Watt University. His research integrates advanced computational techniques with applications in earth sciences and engineering.

Dr. Ala Shafeq Al-Dogail
Researcher, Department of Petroleum Engineering
Dr. Ala AL-Dogail joined the petroleum engineering department at KFUPM as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in November 2024. He was a teaching assistant at the petroleum engineering department during his MS and Ph.D from 2015-2023. His research area focuses on production engineering, multi-phase flow in pipes, pressure characteristics, drag reduction, emulsification, well stimulation, and GOSP optimization. Dr. AL-Dogail is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE) and the American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA).

Dr. Manas Ranjan Parida

Wide-ranging experience working with various laser systems, including femtosecond oscillators and regenerative amplifiers, parametric oscillators and amplifiers, fiber lasers, solid-state pico-, and nanosecond lasers, and supercontinuum sources. These are used in various laser-matter interaction experiments including terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy, Time-resolved spectroscopic techniques, and nonlinear spectroscopy (Z-scan and multi-photon spectroscopy). My research interests include Ultrafast carrier dynamics in semiconductor optoelectronic materials including perovskites solar cells, and photoactive materials including semiconductor quantum dots and nanowires.

Dr. Amro Othman
Researcher, CIPR
Amro Othman has a Ph.D. in the Petroleum Engineering Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). Since he joined KFUPM in 2019 he worked in different research area which includes hydraulic fracturing treatments and water shut-off remediation. He has expertise in formulating fresh and saline water fracturing fluids as well as their performance with proppants.
He has experience with emulsions and their applications in water shut-off. He also uses artificial intelligence and its applications in petroleum engineering.

Xin Liu joined CIPR as a postdoctoral researcher in October 2024. She holds a Ph.D. in Energy Resources and Petroleum Engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. She earned her master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering and her bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering. Before pursuing her Ph.D., she worked at SINOPEC as an assistant engineer for five years. Her research focuses on applying artificial intelligence to Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences.
