CPG-KFUPM | College of Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences conducted a scientific expedition to the Wabar Meteorite Impact Site, Umm Al-Hadid, Empty Quarter, Saudi Arabia, from 11th – 14th December, 2019.

The goals of the expedition were:

– Map the extent of the impact structures using geophysical and geological techniques to better understand the impact processes, nature and origin of these structures
– Study the chemical characteristics and minerals that resulted from the impact
– Improve the understanding of the interaction between cosmic bodies and the Earth
