Overview

The IADC KFUPM Student Chapter, based at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), is the first IADC student chapter established in the Middle East. Since its founding in 2021, the chapter has actively contributed to building a strong bridge between petroleum engineering students and the global drilling industry.

Formed through the efforts of students and faculty in close coordination with IADC headquarters, the chapter continues to grow in scope and impact, offering students unique exposure to real-world drilling practices, industry technologies, and professional networks.

To promote technical excellence, safety culture, and leadership among students through active participation in drilling-focused educational activities, industry engagements, and professional development opportunities.

To be a leading student chapter in the region, recognized for its contribution to shaping the next generation of drilling professionals through innovation, collaboration, and practical exposure to the drilling sector.

Aims & Objectives

  • Bridge Academia and Industry: Provide students with practical insights through field trips, rig visits, and workshops involving real industry scenarios.
  • Enhance Technical Skills: Organize seminars, competitions, and simulator-based training to build technical competencies in drilling and well engineering.
  • Foster a Culture of Safety and Innovation: Promote awareness of IADC’s global safety and operational standards through student-led initiatives and knowledge-sharing platforms.
  • Build a Strong Professional Network: Connect students with professionals and companies through guest lectures, company visits, and collaborative events.
  • Encourage Holistic Development: Create an inclusive environment that fosters teamwork, leadership, and community engagement through both technical and social activities.
